Biome Standards Against Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (CSAE)
Effective Date: September 15, 2025
Zero tolerance: Biome strictly prohibits any content or behavior that sexualizes, endangers, exploits, grooms, or harms minors (anyone under 18). Violations may lead to immediate content removal, account/device bans, and reports to appropriate authorities and hotlines.
What We Prohibit
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) in any form, including photos, videos, audio, text, drawings, animations, or AI-generated/edited content that depicts or sexualizes a minor.
- Grooming or sexual solicitation of minors, including requests for nude images, sexualized conversation with minors, attempts to arrange sexual contact, coercion, or sextortion.
- Sexualization of minors, including fetishization, “age-play,” “barely legal” framing, rating/commenting on a minor’s body, or sexualized depictions of characters presented as minors.
- Links, instructions, or tools that facilitate access to CSAM or CSAE.
- Age misrepresentation to contact minors for sexual purposes.
We also remove sexual content where the apparent age is under 18 or cannot be confidently determined.
Who May Use Biome
Biome is not directed to children under 13. Users must meet the minimum age of digital consent in their country. Where we learn an account is owned by someone under the applicable age, we will take appropriate action, which may include removal.
How We Enforce
- Detection & review: We use user reports, automated signals, and human review to detect and address violations.
- Actions we may take: Content removal, feature restrictions, account/device bans, IP blocks, preservation of evidence, and referral to hotlines or law enforcement where required by law.
- Appeals: If you believe we erred, email biome.help@gmail.com with details; we will review.
How to Report
- In-app: Use the Report option on posts/profiles or go to Settings → Report a problem.
- Email: biome.help@gmail.com (subject: “CSAE report”). Include links, usernames, dates/times, and screenshots if safe to share.
- Hotlines: U.S. — NCMEC CyberTipline; U.K. — IWF. Use your local hotline where available.
Do not search for or download suspected CSAM. If you encounter it, stop interacting with the content and report it.
Our Commitments
- Safety by design: We prioritize features that reduce unsolicited contact and exposure to sensitive content (e.g., account privacy controls, rate limits, and robust reporting tools).
- Data handling: We minimize access to user data, restrict internal access on a need-to-know basis, and retain data related to CSAE only as necessary for safety, legal, and compliance purposes.
- Transparency: We will update these standards as our practices evolve and laws change.
Emergency
